Think you know Autocad? Think it is just for floorplans and elevations? Wrong, this entire 3d model was made in Autocad2000. It is a exact (well, 1000th of an inch) acurate model of a slot car. Before being unioned it had over 50,000 seperate parts (just check out shademode -> 3d). The zip file MUST be unziped into your C:\ or the engine will not load in with the file.
Comments are welcome. Fell free to use this to look at, and modify, would love to see what you do with it if you do.
Total class time made in between three people: 6 weeks. If you want seperate part files, just note me. I have about 50 files of this.
I think I'm eventually gonna make a huge conglomeration of all my little miscellanious piddly CAD things, into one huge science fiction machine shop... heh
The CAD Scientist or some shit.
Did you ever get to build this? I love using CAD for the drafting and engineering purposes on paper alone, but it's so much better when you get to MAKE something in CAD, then see it made in real life with something solid and functional..
I assume you took measurements from an existing car, by the way you worded the description though..
sweet man!!!
@ first i was like o it's just a crappie attempt to make a car on auto cad but then i looked closer and was like o shit it's a slot car!!!! that's cool as hell i miss the days of racing those things. that's a wamp wamp rite not a flexy it would be cool to see a 3d model of a flexy2!!!they just came out when i stopped! this is real cool!!! i no this must of taken a while! if you model one with a flexy 2 chassis i would most definitely make body's 4 it... would be cool to see how it would look rendered in 3dstudio Max!!!! shoot if i have time i might just download this and tinker around with it and put a flexy 2 chassis on it... wow i wrote a lot i tend to do this when i get existed................

I love it when people actually use that program for it's clandestine uses.
Keep it up, and if you want, check out some of the 3d crap in my gallery.

Thanks for posting this! I'm attempting to learn CAD and playing with this is very helpful. I'm very much a noob at this, do you know of any good resources to self teach?

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
